PLANNING SHEET: DOWNLOAD THE LINUX SECURITY SPECIALIST PLANNING SHEET

The purpose of the Linux Security Specialist Certificate is to prepare students to design, administer and implement security solutions for Linux hosts and servers. If you are already working with Linux, you will find this program to be a great compliment to the knowledge and experience you already possess. The content is kept up to date and covers concerns and issues that are faced on a daily basis by administrators and information security personnel. As the Linux+ material is covered in detail, students may be able to obtain the Linux+ certification as well.

Subject matter covered in the program includes: secure Linux installation and configuration, performance
monitoring, file/process management, troubleshooting, backup/recovery, command line operations (shell/utilities),
scripting (shell/Perl), securing and hardening hosts, servers and network services, implementing firewalls, and intrusion
detection.

Upon completion of this certificate program, students may be qualified for jobs as:

  • Linux Administrator
  • Linux Security Administrator
  • Linux Script Programmer
  • Linux Network Technician

Entry Requirements

This certificate begins at an advanced level and is designed for students already in the IT networking field. Students MUST see a CIS faculty adviser for proper placement into this program.
